Each year our department responds to between 70 and 110 calls. Of those calls approximately 2/3 are rescue or medical calls.

PDVFD currently provides patient care during the course of our calls. We have a rescue truck which contains all of our medical and treatment supplies, but it does not have a patient compartment for providing patient transportation. Currently we will arrive on scene, perform a patient assessment and decide if we can provide the care on scene or if the patients need to be transported to a medical facility for additional care. If they do require additional care, we rely on other local departments to come to our scene and transport the patents to the needed facility.

There will be several pieces of equipment we need to purchase, but the largest expense will be the ambulance itself. We have been working with Arrow Ambulances in Davenport, Iowa to spec and price an ambulance. The total cost for the unit itself would be $195,650. This will include the Chasis for the ambulance, the patient care compartment with shelving and seating, and a Strkyer Power Load system for the patient care cot.

In addition to the ambulance we are also planning to purchase a Stryker Power Cot . A cot is a required piece of equipment which is not included with the ambulance. By choosing to go with the Stryker system, we can have the cot directly integrate with the cot system on the ambulance instead of having an aftermarket system added that may not be as safe and reliable. We were able to find a refurbished Power Cot for $15,995.

There are also additional pieces of equipment we will need such as a stair chair, new portable suction as well as additional supplies to stock our ambulance for all potential types of calls.
